About The Event

I woke up for many years on New Year's Day, wanting to mark the day in a way that felt as meaningful as the intentions and dreams I was calling in.....and so many of them fell short. And then one year I said yes to a friend's invitation to Polar Bear Plunge at her lake house - and I was hooked! This practice of cold plunging on New Year's Day has become a ritual and practice that inspires and sets the tone for my year to come. The symbolism of facing discomfort and diving into challenges creates an exhilerating energy for our January first and on. There is something quite significant to the mind when we tell ourselves we can do hard things and then do them. It can kick off that strong sense of "I can do Anything!" There are also many health benefits associated with cold plunging, so I say, it's a win/win.

We will meet in the Parking Lot at Mukilteo Lighthouse Beach close to the water at 11:00am. (I will be arriving earlier in hopes of grabbing a fire pit for our group to stay warm before and after.) We will circle up, do some bouncing and short brisk movement to build some inner heat, pause to set intentions, and then together charge into the water. I think of it as an annual release and blessing to ignite my journey for the year. If we are able to get a fire pit, you are welcome to stay and warm up after the plunge, visit by the fire and celebrate your inner victory if you wish as well.

Please dress in layers as appropriate for the weather (hat, gloves, jacket, sweats, etc.) You can wear a swim suit in the water, or bike shorts, wet suit.....whatever feels right for you under your clothing layers.

And bring:

Towels

Warm clothes to change into 

Water shoes is quite helpful

An extra blanket if you wish to sit after or before

A thermos with hot chocolate, tea or coffee if you like

This is a FREE community event.
